SECOND-HANDBAG was created in 2011 by the stylist & theatre-designer Jantine Kraayeveld (1969). The idea originated in her own studio where she was always surrounded by clothes that she needed for her work – often unique & beautifully made coats, shirts, dresses & skirts.
Jantine : ‘ I couldn’t bare the thought of having to throw these clothes away– so I found a way to recycle them using a simple technique & hence give them a new lease of life. With SECOND-HANDBAG, I can make bags for daily use or for special occasions, like festivals.
I can give every piece of clothing its own quality & together we can choose a pattern & I will make a special bag for you!
It’s so much fun doing this work, I’m already thinking about giving workshops.
I support all sorts of recycling & this new adventure is open to everyone’.
Jantine Kraayeveld completed her study of theatre design, art direction & styling at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in 2002.
She is, at present, owner of Passen en Meten – a company which specialises in costumes, decors & styling for theatre & events.
